Scrappin' is fun!

Been doing more scrapping....finished the 4 generation, then a commissioned work for a friend and then I redid my book of school pictures, report cards, etc. I'll give you a peek at that later.
When my DD (dear daughter) color corrected the photos for me she put together a collage of my faces from 3rd-11th grades. The ones from 2nd and 12th are on a different page. I thought it was neat and so am sharing it with you dear friends.
Gary and I head to the beach to do an engagement shoot tomorrow, I'll try and post some of those next week.

have a grand day,

A new album

Amy decided she wanted to do a whole 8x8 album of pictures from the 4 generations of women in our family. Well I figured I should do one too! The springboard was the post and prints I did here. So Sunday we worked on our albums together. For some reason she said she liked mine better than hers. I think she is a bit too critical of herself...anyway, here are some of the pages.

I have posted the whole book on my facebook page.

I think it is interesting that though the clothes change...what we do remains fairly constant through the generations.

Momma Robin

So I was sitting on the other side of my desk in the cottage the other day. I saw a robin fly into the climbing hydrangea a couple of times. Yep it took me more than once to get me to investigate! I found a nest with two hungry looking babies...

this is my cottage and the hydrangea:
this is the momma:
and the babies, one has it's beak down:
so cute-now my cottage is complete don't you think?

Beautiful Day

Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day even though it was so hot. We spent the morning relaxing and then in the afternoon we had a wedding to photograph in Camas. The bride and groom were so happy and fairly relaxed. Here are some portraits from the day:

Sweaters

Funny title considering the weather around here lately. But I am sitting at my computer in a freezing cold room, with the fans pushing the cold air down the hall to Gary's office.

I wanted to show you some of what I have been doing lately...

Some of this-
lots of this-working on this-

Tomorrow night we head to Camas for their "First Friday" event. Last week was the 4th so they postponed it until the 11th. There will be a Cruise-in and rock and roll music. Should be fun!

I'm so excited

I have wanted this forever....

I have begged and pouted and been obnoxious.

But you know what worked?

I believe it was the power of God.

I began to pray for the right deal and for Gary to change his mind.

I know I should have prayed for my "want" to conform to Gary's idea.

But I also believe that God wants us to have the desires of our heart. So I prayed.

And I looked on Craigslist, but didn't find just the right one.

Then last night after dinner I thought I would have another look.

That is when I saw it!! An ad for what I wanted, the size I wanted, the color I wanted, the price was unbelievable and so I told Gary to call and buy it. (Yep, should have asked but I was feeling led) He did. It was only about 5 minutes away. So we went to see it and bought it and the man delivered it free of charge right then.

Now it is happy in our new home and Gary says he loves it and I adore it.

this photo is from the ad...don't you love the floor. Maybe you don't but I think it is cute. The table looks just as cute on our hardwood floor too!

Hot weather

What are you all doing in this hot weather? All I want to do is sit and read!
I actually started sorting through pictures for the next heritage album I will be working on. This one will focus on my grandparents and mom up to the age of 17 when she got married. While I was sorting I thought it would be cool to find pictures of the 4 generations at the same age. I picked 16, just starting on becoming a full fledged woman but still a kid at heart. I did up a page so you could see what I found.

I knew that Amy and I looked a lot alike but I didn't expect to see some of mom in me. I always thought I looked like my birth father's family. My mom was stunning at 16 I think. She has portraits from 14-17 that were taken at a studio with a gorgeous dress and jewels. You would never know she was so young. Grandma had recently convinced her dad to let her get her hair bobbed. He didn't want her to spend money for it so did it himself. Those waves-she put in with a curling iron. Not a plug in one either. One wrong move or leave it on too long and off came your hair. She never told me this happened to her so I guess she must have been extra careful. I wore my hair in the "Dorothy Hamill" style most of this year. Unfortunately, this time the hair dresser didn't quite get it right in back. I didn't like this picture because of it. Weird how things affect us. The suit was a lined denim one my mom made me. She had one summer off all the time I was growing up. Luckily for me she wanted to spend the time making me a suit. She took a class at Clark to learn how. That blouse was bright pink and red floral. I wore it the year before for pictures too. I didn't realize it until time to replace the picture on the piano.

Isn't it funny how things are right in front of us and we don't see them. Hey, that would be a cool mini-album to do. Or a challenge to you, my friends. Look for things that are right in front of you that you don't usually notice.

So long for now, off to take pictures....

thanks for stopping by...
