Check it out

Another book in this fun series by my friend Robin Jones Gunn.
Run to your nearest book store and get your very own copy...

More sunshine and a touch of rain

More sunshine and a touch of rain and look what happened in my gardens while I've been laying on the couch.
I love the cheerfulness of flowers and the hope they bring me. If you think about it, at times we too go through the same kind of phases. Dormancy, new growth, shedding old things and blossoming anew.

Pictures and philosophy for you my friends....

the Lost days

That is how it feels to me, like I have lost days. I have had a stomach bug for 4 days now and I am ready for it to be over. Since it started I have eaten whatever sounds good. If it's going to go right through why not, right?! And I was only having about one meal a day. Amazing if you know me well.
Anyway, I just googled and found I should be on clear liquids only to give my tummy time to get better. Let's just say what sounded good to eat wasn't clear! So, I'll do better now that I know and take my little pills and hopefully by the time by birthday rolls around next weekend I'll be back to my usual. We have a trip planned to here so it would be really sad if I couldn't do it.
Talk to you all soon....

They like me!

May is a grand month for me.
I love that the garden is coming to life with all the fantastic colors and blossoms.

And for this gal who has a love language of "gifts" it is doubly great. Mother's Day and my birthday. The best thing is that I have taught my children well and they are really good at gift giving! So I was treated yesterday morning with my favorite coffee drink, muffin, newspaper and lovely drive by my husband. Then a fantastic salmon lunch by Karl and Amy. I got to have my favorite pizza for dinner. I love my food...as if you couldn't guess!

The other day I was going to check my email but was met by this sign on the office door:

the reason....Gary and Nick had gotten me an IPOD and Nick then spent hours loading songs and pictures and other info from my computer onto it! I love that he would be willing to invest time into something for me.

Secrets are easier to keep of course, if you don't live in the same house. After I opened the gift Amy made for me, Karl said she had been putting hours into it too. So this is what I opened....

May I just say, that gifts like this choke me up. I know how much work goes into something like this. But even more than that are the things she said in it. The things that she believes about me. Things that sometimes I don't believe about myself. I'm learning to see myself through others eyes, not my own distorted vision.

As I'm writing this post, I am listening to this and I am now a ready to stand and be noticed!

Thanks for listening and letting me share,

My friends...

So on this eve of Mother's Day,I send a greeting out to my friends. It is still a bit weird for me to celebrate this special day and not have my mom or grandma to spoil. I let the kids spoil me and that helps but still...

I so appreciate what each of my friends add to my life. You have helped me through tough times and rejoiced with me in good. So to you I say "I hope you get spoiled today, because you deserve it!"

Take a look at this and may it bring a smile...

love ya,
k

Sunshine!

"Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy..."

How can anyone be sad on a bright sunny day?

The plants are all green, the smell on new mowed lawn. Well, my allergies don't like it much but the rest of me does. I took a walk around my yard and got so excited to see all the new spring growth. The climbing hydrangea is taking over but I won't trim it until after it blooms.

The peonies are ready to burst, the lilacs to pop,

and this plant that I don't know the name of is in a riot of bloom.

A trio of tiny blossoms:

and just one more from my cottage type front yard...

Yummo!

How cute is that?! I actually bought one of the pans to make a cake like this. The cake I made didn't look quite this nice though. Still cute though and it fools the eye. This mold holds a whole cake mix, so this is the same as a two layer cake, which it actually is sorta. You can get your very own here.

Or do what I did and use a 40% off coupon at Michaels Crafts. Then you can make your own fun cupcake whenever you want. I might be willing to loan mine out though...

Customers???

As I pulled up to the store this morning to open up I see a bunch of barricades the whole block. No parking and a broken up side walk. I set in to get a lot of reading done because the only way into the store was a 2 foot wide board covering the space. The workers proceeded to lay a new sidewalk and create an obstacle course to the store.

But...customers did come, not a ton but they trickled in all day. It was fun to see what people chose and especially little Violet who needed a doggy stamp and pink stamp pad!

Retail Therapy

So it's back to retail!
Nope I'm not using it to get me through something, I'm actually working retail for a few days. My dear friend Janene is getting a much needed break from running her cute "card and rubber stamp store." She will be off playing at a crafting show and I will be attending to her customers. Hoping some will be in for a bit of retail therapy themselves. It just wouldn't be that fun without lots of people stopping in. I'll let you know how it goes. I will be scoping out the loot for what to spend my store credit on too....

Then since it is First Thursday and my love won't be home tonight, I am taking myself to Red Robin for dinner. I always get the same thing, boring maybe but delicious. I get the Teriyaki Chicken Burger with no bun, no cheese, no mayo plus extra teriyaki. Then I cut everything up and have a salad....oh and the fries are on a seperate plate. Yep, gotta have the fries! Isn't that really why we go to RR? Lots of sodium yes, I'll be guzzeling water for a couple days but sooo worth it in my opinion.

I have been doing a bit of crafting and I'll share soon as I take some photos...
thanks for stopping by...
