Missing in action

I got bronchitis and it moved in to stay...was not talking for weeks and then the coughing... I am much better now and back to work some.  The best thing though is that I get Amy's Evan every Tuesday during the summer! And we think he is just the cutest little tyke.

In other news:
Gary changed the photo blog to Wordpress awhile back and loves it. I am not one that wants to be out of touch so I helped him change my blog home to Wordpress tonight.

The only problem is that now I have to learn a whole new system!  But it is mostly too warm outside to do much, so I will sit in front of my little air conditioner soon and figure it out. It is still pretty cute as it is though...

This week...

Since I am feeling a bit better I got to watch Mr. Evan for the week. We have been smiling lots and taking naps together!
This is who showed up this morning-in the cutest hoodie...

These photos are all ones Amy took, but I have been posting some of my own on Instagram and Facebook.
However, the ones I take are blurry-can't seem to get the boy to stop moving...

He is now about 9.8 pounds and 23 " is what I think Amy said.

Lots of this face happening lately...

He will be available for hugs here all summer on Tuesdays...come for a snuggle and visit!

Frustration

It is so frustrating
when you have lots of stuff to do
and then you get a sore throat
and can't talk
so you email your husband
and have him call in sick for you
and so you have a whole day ahead
but don't feel well enough
to do anything
so you sit in you chair
and sip lots of liquids
and read
and nap
and watch tv
and nap
and croak thanks to your
husband who brings
a frappe home for you
and at the end of the day
your throat feels a little
better but you know somehow
it isn't and you probably
still can't talk
but maybe
tomorrow will be better
and you will feel like
doing something
even if it is just sitting
outside in the sun

Brag alert...

This is all about bragging rights. Our son Nick and his great friend Jenny have been working together creating photographic and video projects. They have started a website, etc.

Please go and check it out at www.manazzi.com.

And if you see Nick...tell him to be gentle with me-a mom's right by nature is to brag!

...taken from their website....

Today=happy

Today was the best day!
It has been awhile since I noticed how all the details came together to make a great day.
We got to church this morning and there was a spot to park right outside the main doors. Meeting and greeting friends, hearing a great message and awesome music. The kids came over today for lunch and a game. Oh and lots of looking, cuddling and kissing an awesome little boy who has stolen our hearts...a lovely nap, $1 coffees from Dutch Brothers and a beautiful drive. We went down to the riverfront and followed roads until we ended up in Ridgefield. Dinner at El Rancho Viejo. Driving home as the sun finished it's day we listened to 70's music and reminisced. A lovely day...

Betcha....

Betcha thought this would be another post with lots of photos of Evan...he is a whole week old!

But I thought I would share a little book I made for my boss at Hallmark who is sorta retiring. File folders, old pay stubs, plus lots of other fun stuff.

the cover says "I'm too pretty to work"-
don't you wish that would fly?!
drink umbrellas plus I included a "Mike's"-

I added in a recipe-

I added a Nicholas Sparks book and some book plates-

some inspirational tags-

and a little note from me....
okay...couldn't resist....Sunday's photo-

Easter weekend...the birth of Hope

In anticipation of Easter Sunday I spent Saturday making a special lunch. I baked a quiche and resurrection rolls. Made a salad and cut up a huge batch of strawberries.

But Sunday turned out way different than I anticipated....
Saturday night Gary headed off to a local restaurant to hear a Beatles tribute band and I settled in for a night watching tv. And then I got a call from Amy saying she was having some cramping and was heading home from a friends house. Another call a bit later saying she was going to the hospital. I called Gary and left a message letting him know what was happening. But told him to enjoy the concert because it was likely to be hours before anything happened. I called Gabriele and asked if they were heading to the hospital and if they would pick me up. Shortly after arriving, Gary showed up. He didn't take my advice-good thing because a short time later Karl came out and said Amy had dilated from 3 to 8! Things were happening faster than I thought possible...

After a bit more waiting Gabriele and I went and listened outside the door and soon were rewarded by hearing "Hi baby"...

At 3:28am on Easter morning we welcomed Evan James Baumgarten. All 6 pounds, 6 ounces and 20 inches of him. There has been a lot of this-
and this-
Here are a few to enjoy....

little face....
little toes....
little stretch....
lotta sleeping....
little bit of peekin' at Mimi...
little bit of crying....
lots of adoration by papa....
and momma....
a little face that seems to say "yeah I'm cute"....
his prized possession....
bringing momma to tears of joy....
"give me that baby"....
"hey Evan-I am so glad you are here"....
close up from auntie Krista....
and one from uncle Nick....
Baumgarten men....
Auntie Gabriele and Uncle Nick...
honorary auntie Megan and uncle Jordan...
Just as Christians nationwide celebrate the Hope that came with the empty tomb we are celebrating Hope in a different way. Hope that the new generation will be able to change the world for the better but still hold onto the roots of it's ancestors. The hope that we all will make the world better just by being in it...

Waiting....

March 11March 25You saw that first photo in the last post but I just needed to put it here again for a comparison!

She is pretty close to having little peanut-today she was planning on putting her hospital bag together.

As I was looking at her photos I started thinking about the ones Gary took when I was pregnant. So I pulled out the box they were in and looked in our scrapbook for 1984 and found a few to share.

This is from December 1983-
we tried to "hide" our bellies then...
This is January '84-
Gotta love polyester dresses with big bows...
These were "artistic" ones Gary
took the week before Amy was born...
Every girl had photos taken with silk flowers then! Oh and the dress I am wearing...I wore to prom 6 years before.

February 1984
this angel came to live with us and we were all thrilled
especially her Nana-
thanks for stopping by...
